broken, imperfect, perfection

Welcome to my blog,  as usual,  disclaimer,  my opinion. Agree to disagree.

Broken, imperfect, Perfection

"Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art."

I just recently learned about Kintsugi, and of course my mind went straight to scripture! The parallels of broken pottery and our broken sin nature are very obvious to me.

In our western world,  when we break Pottery, plates and such, we tend to throw it in the garage and replace the item if possible. Sometimes, we try to glue the item back together, while trying to hide the scar. But never in my years have I ever thought to willfully display a crack like a Kintsugi bowl!

I have a lot of antiques in my home, passed down from my grandparents and some have been damaged throughout the years, maybe I will highlight the damage with gold!

Anyways, back to the Bible...

Our Heavenly, most Holy Father, loves to use broken vessels. He made us from the earth to begin with.

2 Cor. 4:7, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not us.”

So that His Glory and His power would shine through us to others.

We in and of ourselves have no power and no strength, but put the power and Spirit of the Living God in us and watch and see what can do with Him!

God will put our pieces back together and unlike the Kintsugi, you won't see cracks of gold because when God rebuilds someone, He makes us whole!

That's the thing about man, he can put something together that he broke, but it will never be the same, but with God, old things become New!

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

What an awesome gift from the Father!

We feel totally inadequate, broken and of no use. Put out to the curb. Jesus comes along, sees us and says, "Man, what a deal!" He cleans us up, fixes the brokenness, and makes us to be the best possible self we can be (if we so choose).

1 Cor 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

God doesn't do what man wants,  He does what He wants. He chooses who He will, He will show mercy on who He will, and justice on who He will. It's not up to man to decide.  If God wants to use you,  He will. He isn't going to ask permission either.

Do you think He asked Saul (Paul) on his way to Damascus if he wanted a God encounter that day? No, He did not. So just so you are aware, if He wants you, you're up to bat, so get to the plate.

Nothing God is asking you to do is above your pay grade. He us aware that what He has assigned is going to make you uncomfortable- but heres the question and I take this question from a missionary I recently learned about who during the 1960s was in war torn Africa, as a doctor; who was being beaten and gang raped -asked God, very rightly I might add, "Where are you" to which God replied "Can you trust in this moment with this experience, even if I never tell you the reason why you are going through it?" Dr. Helen Roseveare

CAN YOU TRUST GOD RIGHT NOW?
IN THE EXPERIENCE YOU ARE GOING THROUGH, RIGHT NOW, IN YOUR TRIAL, IN YOUR BROKENNESS, IN YOUR HEARTBREAK, IN YOUR HEALTH SCARE?

3 yrs ago, I rolled up to a very large hospital in London, Ontario. LRCC was the acronym, not once did I bother to ask what it meant, it was part of the children's hospital, I assumed it had something to do with children. I was wrong.

London Regional Cancer Centre

Um... ya. I went in,  very confused.  I had blood worked done, and waited for the doctor. The doctor came, he started talking in all kinds of big words. MGUS of undetermined nature, multiple myloma... I had to stop him. What are you saying,  and why am I here? My back aches. Dumbfounded he looks at me, you have cancer. My reply... "mppff ok".

Not really anything else to say after that.  I don't get the connection but whatever. I leave the office and I'm alone with my thoughts. Okay. Cancer. Oh well. You're problem God, not mine. Haven't given it much thought since.  Regular visits and all, unchanged in 3yrs because YHWH Rapha is my HEALER! Hasn't hurt me and nor will it. It's not my time.

This past June, 2023.... I lose sight in my right eye for a few hours. Dr's thought stroke. Nope. Ultrasound, CT scan... ophthalmologist...You have a Brain tumor... me, "Cool". Off for MRI.

I leave that building, time to talk to God again, Lord, your word says you will never leave me,  and I have nothing to fear, so I will not be afraid no matter what comes my way! If you are with me, we golden!

Next!!!! Devil, you are passing me off. Keep it up and you're going to make this personal.

God is going to use us broken people! He is going to take the ones the world has shoved aside and use us to bring the gospel to the ones the church can't reach! He is going to show them how to over come the devil!

It is through the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ and the Word of our testimonies! It's all we have! We don't need to go to seminary to tell people what Jesus is doing for us! We just show them our lives, our recoveries, our stories!

Jesus is our lives, He takes broken pottery and makes us new! He heals the broken hearted, He binds the wounded, He sets the captives free! That's what He does because He loves us, He died for us! He wants freedom for all of us!

Praise the Lord, my soul! Praise his holy name, all that is within me. Praise the Lord, my soul, and never forget all the good he has done: He is the one who forgives all your sins, the one who heals all your diseases, the one who rescues your life from the pit, the one who crowns you with mercy and compassion, the one who fills your life with blessings so that you become young again like an eagle.

All we got to do is believe. Just like the thief on the cross, only believe.
